Right grinding aids and chemical additives can help drive decarbonization and sustainability in cement manufacturing operations on multiple accounts:

 

A. The most significant and primary contributor to CO2 and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions during cement manufacturing process is clinker production. Each ton of clinker emits 825-890 kg of CO2 during the production process. Average clinker factor in cements can vary from 95% to 30% depending on the grade, quality, region, and other local factors.

 

Our grinding-aids and high-impact-strength-enhancers can help reduce clinker content in cement by 3-10% (depending on the compatibility and conditions). 

 

Assuming a total cement production of 400 million tons in India and about 4.5 billion tons worldwide, bespoke grinding aids with the right impact can help reduce carbon footprint by >10 million tons of CO2 emissions in India alone and >150 million tons per annum worldwide.

 

B. Our products can help reduce specific power consumption by 2-4 KWH/Ton of cement. This can again translate into millions of units of power saving in India as well as globally with the right product-need fit.

 

C. As the limestone reserves across the country face sustained pressure in terms of both life of the deposits as well as the quality of limestone being mined, there would be an ever-increasing role that our products would need to play in deriving more cements with limited resources. Reducing clinker factor and being able to derive quality cements even with marginal limestone grades would require the deployment of bespoke chemical additives.
